One Driver Injured; Charges Expected for 17-Year-Old Suspect
Aurora, CO (August 3, 2025) – Police arrested a 17-year-old driver Friday morning after he fled the scene of a 3-vehicle crash on South Pitkin Road.
According to Aurora patrol officers, the crash happened around 6:30 a.m. near South Buckley Way.
Reports say that the teen rear-ended another vehicle, then fled on foot. The driver of the rear-ended car chased him north on South Buckley Road, tackled him, and held him down until officers arrived.
Authorities confirmed the teen had no weapons and remains in custody while investigators determine formal charges, which will likely include hit-and-run.
Emergency crews transported the rear-ended driver to a local hospital with unspecified injuries. The third driver involved in the crash was not hurt.
Police temporarily closed the left northbound lane of South Buckley Road for investigation but reopened the area to traffic shortly after 8 a.m.
Do The Right Thing. Stay. Help. Take Responsibility.
A hit-and-run is not just a crime, but a devastating act of cowardice leaving victims injured, scared, and sometimes fighting for their lives. If you’re involved in a traffic accident, stop immediately. Call 911. Help those who are hurt.
Remember that fleeing the scene only worsens the situation and carries serious legal consequences, including felony charges. Victims deserve accountability and justice.
Leaving the scene of a crash is a serious offense. If you’re involved in an accident, stay at the scene and cooperate with law enforcement. Your actions can make a difference in ensuring everyone’s safety.
What Should You Do When Injured in Hit-and-Run Collision?
If you are injured in a hit-and-run collision, your safety and health come first. Call 911 immediately to report the crash and request medical help. If you are able, try to remember and record any details about the fleeing vehicle—such as the make, model, color, or license plate number. Also, take photos of the scene, your injuries, and any vehicle damage. Gather contact information from any witnesses who saw the crash.
Once you’ve received medical attention, report the incident to the police and get a copy of the report for your records. Notify your insurance company about the hit-and-run as soon as possible; your policy may include uninsured motorist coverage that can help with medical costs and vehicle repairs.
Most importantly, hire Sweet Lawyers’ personal injury attorney. They can help investigate the incident, protect your rights, and work to get you compensation for your injuries, lost wages, and other damages.
