2 People Hurt in Santa Barbara Auto Accident on Cota Street at State Street

SANTA BARBARA, CA (March 29, 2026) – Friday night, authorities arrested Ryan Hill after a disastrous hit-and-run crash on Cota Street at State Street.

The incident happened at around 9:45 p.m. on Cota Street at State Street.

According to the Santa Barbara Police Department, a westbound white pickup truck rear-ended two vehicles that were stopped at a traffic signal. Then, the driver of the pickup fled the scene on foot after the crash.

Moreover, a witness gave chase to the hit-and-run driver and caught the suspect on the first block of East Ortega Street. Then, officers arrested the suspect, identified as 50-year-old Ryan A. Hill, on suspicion of drunken driving and hit-and-run with injuries.

Furthermore, officers confirmed that one person was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital with minor injuries, and another person complained of minor pain.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.
