Exon Daniel Herrera-Hernandez Arrested in Brutal DUI Crash on 11200 Kiowa Road [Apple Valley, CA]

1 Dead in Apple Valley Auto Accident on 11200 Kiowa Road near Caribou Avenue

APPLE VALLEY, CA (September 22, 2025) – Saturday night, authorities arrested Exon Daniel Herrera-Hernandez in a brutal DUI crash on 11200 Kiowa Road.

The crash happened at around 11:36 p.m. in the 11200 block of Kiowa Road near Caribou Avenue.

A man is facing multiple felony charges after a deadly crash in Apple Valley involving a white Nissan sedan and a white Hummer SUV, authorities said.

According to preliminary information, the Nissan rear-ended the Hummer while both vehicles were traveling northbound. The impact caused the Hummer to veer off the roadway, strike a wooden utility pole, crash through a chain-link fence, and come to rest on private property.

The Hummer sustained major damage, including a crushed roof and shattered windshield, while the Nissan suffered extensive front-end damage. Two men were inside the Hummer. The driver was ejected and CPR was performed at the scene, but he later died at St. Mary’s Medical Center. The passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was able to contact family members after the crash.

Deputies arrested the Nissan’s driver, Herrera-Hernandez, at the scene. He was booked into the High Desert Detention Center on $250,000 bail and faces several felony charges, including VC 23153(A) – DUI alcohol causing bodily injury, VC 23153(B) – DUI with 0.08% alcohol causing bodily injury, and PC 191.5(A) – gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

Court records show Herrera-Hernandez is scheduled to appear in Victorville Superior Court on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at 8:00 a.m. in Department NF.

The Apple Valley Police Department is actively investigating the collision.
