Injuries Reported in Santa Cruz County Auto Accident on Highway 17 and Vine Hill Road

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA (May 22, 2025) – Monday morning, an alarming school bus crash on Highway 17 and Vine Hill Road injured 1.

Reports said that the incident happened at around 9:50 a.m. when a 67-year-old woman from San Jose Drove a Mini Cooper, south of Highway 17, north of Vine Hill Road at an undetermined rate of speed. 

Then, she ended up crashing into the rear of a Cupertino Union School District bus with 24 children and one adult on board. The impact sent the Mini Cooper in a southwesterly direction, where the car veered off the road and struck a tree.

After the crash, the Mini Cooper suffered major injuries and was taken to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose.

Meanwhile, two of the children on the bus sustained minor injuries but didn’t require hospitalization. Meanwhile, the two adults on the bus, including the driver, suffered no injuries in the crash.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Also, the authorities haven’t clarified whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
