CHP Investigates Crash at Espinosa Road and Christensen Road in Salinas

SALINAS, CA (May 27, 2026)— One person suffered major injuries, and two others sustained minor injuries after a two-vehicle crash at Espinosa Road and Christensen Road late Tuesday night near Salinas.

According to CHP Monterey, the collision happened around 8:50 p.m.

The crash knocked down a utility pole and blocked the roadway. CHP first reported the road closure at about 9:12 p.m. while officers investigated the crash.

Officials later said Espinosa Road west of Christensen Road would remain closed for an extended period while crews repaired the damaged utility pole.

PG&E initially estimated the road would reopen around noon on Wednesday. CHP later reported that the roadway reopened around 4:32 p.m.

Emergency responders transported one person to a hospital with major injuries. Two others suffered minor injuries.

Authorities have not released additional details about what caused the crash.

The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the collision.
