Injuries Reported in Sonora Pedestrian Accident on Highway 49 near Southgate Drive

SONORA, CA (November 9, 2025) – Thursday afternoon, a 16-year-old person was injured in a startling pedestrian crash on Highway 49 near Southgate Drive.

The incident happened at about 5:20 p.m. on Highway 49/Stockton Street near Southgate Drive.

SPD said an eastbound 2024 Chevy Trailblazer SUV hit a 16-year-old pedestrian who was walking in a crosswalk. The teen suffered major but non-life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto for treatment.

Police said drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
