Police Investigate Fatal Head-On Crash on Highway 550 in Grand Junction

Grand Junction, CO (August 7, 2025) – A fatal crash on Highway 550 forced traffic to reroute on August 6.

Around 9:00 a.m., a white Dodge Caravan and a white Ram 1500 collided head-on at mile marker 114 near Colona, according to the Colorado State Patrol (CSP).

First responders found the Dodge Caravan’s driver dead at the scene and rushed the passenger to the hospital in critical condition.

CSP reported that both the driver and passenger of the Ram 1500 escaped injury.

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) reopened the road later the same day.
