Police Investigate Fatal Crash on W. Third Street in Trader Joe’s Parking Lot in Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES, CA (September 3, 2026)– One person died and four others suffered injuries in a crash on W. Third Street Thursday afternoon after a vehicle collided into a security stand in a Trader Joe’s parking lot near The Original Farmers Market, striking multiple pedestrians.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the crash happened at approximately 1:20 p.m. at 7900 W. Third Street, just west of Fairfax Avenue.

Authorities said a 91-year-old woman was driving the vehicle when it crashed into the security stand and struck several pedestrians in the parking lot.

Emergency responders pronounced one person dead at the scene. LAFD Capt. Cody Weireter said the deceased victim was a woman believed to be in her 30s. Authorities had not immediately released her identity.

Four other people were transported to hospitals.

A 19-year-old man suffered serious injuries, according to Weireter. Two women, ages 57 and 30, sustained minor injuries. The 91-year-old driver was also taken to a hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.

Authorities have not released additional information about what caused the vehicle to crash or whether any other factors may have contributed to the incident.

The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision.
