Police Investigate Fatal Crash on 710 Freeway in Long Beach

Long Beach, CA (January 30, 2025) – One person died and one sustained injuries in a crash on 710 Freeway.

An SUV veered off the Long Beach (710) Freeway and crashed into a Metro Line maintenance yard fence, killing one person and injuring another in Long Beach.

California Highway Patrol officers arrived at the northbound freeway near the Del Amo Boulevard off-ramp at 2:57 a.m.

Upon investigation, they found that the SUV had collided with a freeway sign before leaving the roadway and crashing into the fence, trapping the vehicle’s occupants, CHP Officer Megan Curtis told City News Service.

Emergency responders pronounced one passenger dead at the scene, while Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported the second occupant to a hospital in an unknown condition.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
