Woman Killed in Brutal Pedestrian Crash on Interstate 10

1 Dead in San Antonio Pedestrian Accident on Interstate 10 and Woodlawn Avenue

SAN ANTONIO, TX (May 28, 2026) – Wednesday morning, a woman died in a brutal pedestrian crash on Interstate 10 and Woodlawn Avenue.

The incident occurred at about 4:00 a.m. on Interstate 10 and Woodlawn Avenue, just near Fredericksburg Road.

As of 7:30 a.m., the Texas Department of Transportation reported that all lanes had reopened.

According to San Antonio police, a woman was attempting to cross the interstate when she was struck by a VIA Metropolitan Transit van. VIA later confirmed the vehicle involved was a VIA transit van and said no passengers were on board at the time of the collision.

Police said the van driver remained at the scene and contacted EMS for assistance.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the woman’s identity as well as her official cause and manner of death.

San Antonio police said the investigation remains ongoing, and additional information was not immediately available.
