NEEDLES, CA (May 10, 2026) – Friday afternoon, a person died in a brutal traffic crash on Needles Highway near Capri Road.

The incident involving a black sedan and a white pickup happened on Needles Highway near Capri Road.

According to a California Highway Patrol traffic log, the driver of a black sedan was reportedly driving recklessly before the collision.

When responders arrived, both vehicles were on fire, and at least one person was trapped inside one of the vehicles involved.

The crash prompted the response of at least two medical helicopters. Authorities said the victims were transported to hospitals in Las Vegas, though their conditions have not been released.

CHP said officers were still investigating the crash as of 8 p.m., and no additional details about the circumstances had been made available. The investigation is being handled by the CHP Needles Office.
