Police Investigate Fatal Crash  at the Glamis Off-Highway Recreational Area in Imperial County

Imperial County, CA (February 20, 2025) – A 56-year-old man suffered fatal injuries in a crash at the Glamis Off-Highway Recreational Area on February 15.

Authorities reported that the man was driving a 2005 Sand Rail in a southeasterly direction at an unknown speed when, for reasons still under investigation, he collided with another Sand Rail. 

The impact proved fatal, and emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene. The County Coroner’s Office has not yet released his identity.

The 62-year-old driver of the second Sand Rail sustained major injuries, and emergency crews transported him to Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment. 

A 12-year-old girl riding as a passenger in the second Sand Rail suffered minor injuries.

CHP confirmed that all individuals involved were properly restrained at the time of the crash.
