1 Dead in Surprise Multi-Vehicle Accident on Grand Avenue near 163rd Avenue

 
SURPRISE, AZ (April 5, 2022) – Monday morning, a person died in a 4-vehicle crash on Grand Avenue near 163rd Avenue.
 
The incident happened just before 11:30 a.m. on southbound Grand Avenue near 163rd Avenue.
 
According to reports, a Penske box truck hit a Toyota car which injured two and pushed the car into the desert. Then, the truck crashed into a Nissan Altima sedan which killed the Nissan driver.
 
Afterward, a semi-truck hit the Penske box truck.
 
Responders transported the Penske truck driver to the hospital. Also, the authorities investigate whether impairment played a role.
 
At this time, the authorities haven’t disclosed the extent of injuries of the Toyota driver and passenger.
 
Meanwhile, the semi-truck driver suffered no injuries.
 
Also, the crash shut down Grand Avenue in both directions at 163rd Avenue, just west of Loop 303.
