AUSTIN, TX (May 12, 2026) – Early Monday morning, a person died in a devastating 2-vehicle crash on FM 973 near Burleson Road.

The crash involving two vehicles happened at about 1:54 a.m. on FM 973 near Burleson Road.

The crash happened near the southern end of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and close to Richard Moya Park, according to authorities.

Police said the man who died was driving one of the two vehicles involved. He became pinned inside his vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Emergency crews transported the other driver to a nearby hospital. Authorities said no other occupants were inside either vehicle at the time of the crash.

The intersection was closed while investigators and emergency responders worked at the scene.
