1 Dead in South Los Angeles Pedestrian Accident on 110 Freeway and West Florence Avenue

SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA (October 8, 2025) – Tuesday morning, a driver died in a devastating hit-and-run crash on 110 Freeway and West Florence Avenue.

The incident happened at around 1:35 a.m. on the southbound 110 Freeway and the West Florence Avenue exit, said CHP Officer Elizabeth Kravig.

A tow truck driver was killed in a hit-and-run crash while assisting a motorist on the southbound 110 Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officials said the victim, whose name has not been released, was struck by a passing vehicle while working on a car stopped on the right shoulder. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

The driver who hit him did not stop, but the suspect’s vehicle was later found, CHP said. The driver remains at large.

A Sigalert was issued, closing all southbound lanes at the Florence exit for more than four hours. Two lanes reopened around 5:40 a.m., and the freeway was fully cleared by 7 a.m.
