1 Dead in San Diego Multi-Vehicle Accident on Interstate 15 near Camino del Norte

SAN DIEGO, CA (August 4, 2025) – Sunday morning, a person died in a horrific 4-vehicle crash on Interstate 15 near Camino del Norte.

The incident involving four vehicles happened just before 9:00 a.m. on the south Interstate 15 near Camino del Norte.

A major crash left one person dead and up to nine others injured, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The incident initially involved three vehicles in the carpool lane. A fourth vehicle later struck one of the cars already involved. It wasn’t immediately clear if the person pronounced dead at the scene was included in the total number of injured.

CHP said officers were following up with those hospitalized. The carpool lane on the 15 near Carmel Mountain Road was temporarily closed while officials investigated, but has since reopened.

The investigation is ongoing.
