1 Dead in Oroville Motorcycle Accident on Highway 162 near Mistletoe Lane

OROVILLE, CA (November 13, 2025) – Tuesday morning, a person died in a horrific motorcycle crash on Highway 162 near Mistletoe Lane.

The incident happened at about 10:44 a.m. on Highway 162 near Mistletoe Lane.

Officers from the California Highway Patrol, the Butte County Sheriff’s Office, Cal Fire, and paramedics responded to the scene.

When emergency crews arrived, they found two riders who had been traveling together at a high rate of speed before losing control and veering off the roadway, according to the CHP.

Investigators said both riders were wearing helmets, but excessive speed prevented them from regaining control. Their motorcycles struck a dirt embankment, ejecting both riders.

One rider was taken to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The other was airlifted to another hospital and remains in critical but stable condition. The CHP has not released their names.

“The CHP and responding emergency personnel extend their deepest condolences to the families and friends of those involved in this tragic incident,” the agency said in a statement.
