SURPRISE, AZ (January 20, 2025) – Sunday night, a person died in a brutal pedestrian crash near Grand Avenue and Greenway Road.

The incident happened at about 6:30 p.m. near Grand Avenue and Greenway Road.

Authorities have confirmed that the individual who lost their life in the incident was the pedestrian involved. The driver stayed at the scene following the crash.

Police have closed the southeast-bound lanes of Grand Avenue between Dysart and Greenway Road. The closure is anticipated to remain in effect for several hours as the investigation continues.

“The Surprise PD traffic unit is working to determine the circumstances surrounding the collision, however, early information indicates the pedestrian was not utilizing a crosswalk,” Surprise Police revealed.
