Police Investigate Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 380 in Chaves County

Chaves County, NM (September 24, 2025) – A fatal crash on Highway 380 near Roswell killed one person Wednesday morning, according to the New Mexico State Police.

At about 9:30 a.m., NMSP officers responded to a two-vehicle collision at milepost 198, east of Roswell toward Lubbock.

 Investigators reported that the crash involved one commercial vehicle, and both vehicles caught fire after the impact.

Authorities confirmed that one person died as a result of the crash. Officials later reopened all lanes after temporarily closing the highway.

The Chaves County Sheriff’s Office and NMSP continue to investigate the incident.
