1 Dead in Whittier Bicycle Accident on Mulberry Drive and Greenleaf Avenue

WHITTIER, CA (June 19, 2025) – Saturday night, a person died in a horrific bicycle crash on Mulberry Drive and Greenleaf Avenue.

The incident happened at 10:56 p.m. on Mulberry Drive, east of Greenleaf Avenue.

According to the California Highway Patrol in Santa Fe Springs, officers and Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics were dispatched to the eastbound lanes of Mulberry Drive following reports of a vehicle striking a bicyclist.

Responding officers found the bicyclist, whose gender has not been confirmed, deceased in the No. 1 lane. Witnesses reported that an unidentified vehicle was traveling eastbound at high speed when a loud impact was heard. The vehicle continued driving eastbound without stopping.

Authorities believe the point of impact occurred near Greenleaf Avenue, and the victim’s body was thrown approximately 400 feet down the road, past the railroad tracks toward Painter Avenue.

It remains unclear whether the bicyclist was using a crosswalk at the time of the collision. A second vehicle reportedly struck the body after the initial hit-and-run. That driver stopped and cooperated with law enforcement.

Due to the jurisdiction, Whittier Police Department took over the investigation. The LASD Aero Bureau assisted in searching for the hit-and-run vehicle, which was reportedly leaking coolant, but the vehicle was not located.
