1 Dead in Lucerne Valley Auto Accident on Highway 247 near Fern Road

LUCERNE VALLEY, CA (February 28, 2026) – Early Friday morning, a person died in a horrific fiery crash on Highway 247 near Fern Road.

The incident occurred at 12:58 a.m. on Highway 247, between Fern Road and Wilderness Road, the California Highway Patrol revealed.

According to CHP incident logs, dispatch initially reported one semi-truck overturned with the cab fully engulfed in flames. A later update indicated two semis were overturned and burning, with cement spilling from one of the trucks. No hazardous materials were reported.

San Bernardino County Fire personnel responded and pronounced one person dead at the scene. Around 1:11 a.m., the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department was notified to begin a coroner’s investigation.

A surviving victim was airlifted by Mercy Air to Loma Linda University Medical Center. Their condition has not been released.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.

The Victorville CHP station is investigating the crash.
