JASPER COUNTY, TX (October 9, 2025) – Tuesday night, a person died in a horrific pedestrian crash on Highway 62 and County Road 826.

The incident happened when a vehicle struck a pedestrian on Highway 62 and County Road 826, Sheriff Chuck Havard said.

Havard said Highway 62 will be shut down for some time while the Department of Public Safety investigates the crash.

Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.

Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
