1 Dead in Porterville Auto Accident on Plano Street and Mulberry Avenue

PORTERVILLE, CA (November 19, 2025) – Sunday night, a suspect died in a horrific police chase crash on Plano Street and Mulberry Avenue.

The incident happened at about 11:56 p.m. on Plano Street and Mulberry Avenue.

Officers were called to Plano Street and Mulberry Avenue to assist Tulare County sheriff’s deputies who were looking for a stolen vehicle. Police say the driver refused to stop, leading to a short pursuit through a residential area on Porterville’s west side. During the chase, the suspect intentionally rammed a deputy’s patrol car. The deputy was not hurt.

A Porterville officer later saw the suspect vehicle speeding east on Westfield Avenue near Newcomb Street and attempted a stop. The driver kept going and entered the intersection at Prospect Street, where it collided with a Tulare County sheriff’s vehicle.

After the impact, the suspect car came to rest in the yard of a home and caught fire. Police say two people were inside the vehicle. One died at the scene; the other was taken to a hospital with major injuries. The deputy involved in the crash was also taken to a hospital with moderate injuries.
