CHP Investigates Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 50 in Sacramento

Sacramento, CA (September 24, 2025) – One person died in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 50 involving a semi-truck.

A tragic crash on Wednesday morning claimed the life of a motorist after their car collided with a semi-truck on Highway 50 near Howe Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol’s South Sacramento office.

CHP dispatchers received reports of the collision at 9:30 a.m. and alerted responding officers to the scene on eastbound Highway 50, just west of Howe Avenue. 

When officers arrived, they discovered a gray Chevrolet Corvette lodged beneath a tractor-trailer in the highway’s center divider.

Emergency responders worked to extricate the Corvette’s driver from the wreckage. However, despite their efforts, the motorist succumbed to their injuries at the scene, according to CHP dispatch logs.

The crash prompted lane closures on eastbound Highway 50, but CHP officers reopened all lanes shortly before noon.

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased motorist, and the incident remains under investigation.
