Kansas City, MO (August 19, 2025) – A person remains in critical condition after a car accident on Red Bridge Road on Tuesday night.

Kansas City police responded to the scene shortly after 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of Red Bridge Road and Bennington Avenue. 

According to their crash summary, the driver of a Ford Mustang was speeding westbound on Red Bridge Road with the passenger door open.

When the driver made a sudden left turn onto southbound Bennington Avenue, the front seat passenger—who was not wearing a seat belt—was ejected from the vehicle. 

The passenger struck their head on a curb upon landing.

Emergency responders transported the injured passenger to a nearby hospital, where they remained in critical condition as of Wednesday morning.

Police are investigating whether the driver of the Ford Mustang was impaired at the time of the incident.
