MESA, AZ (January 21, 2025) – Monday morning, a person died in a brutal traffic crash on Loop 202 at Milepost 9.

The incident happened at about 7:30 a.m. in the westbound lanes of Loop 202 at Milepost 9, near McClintock Drive and Loop 101.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) has confirmed that one person was killed in the incident, though the number of vehicles involved remains unclear.

As part of the investigation, all westbound lanes of the freeway were closed, with traffic diverted onto northbound and southbound Loop 101. The westbound lanes reopened shortly after 1 p.m.
