1 Dead in Bakersfield Auto Accident on Panama Lane and Stine Road

BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 25, 2025) – Sunday morning, a horrific DUI crash on Panama Lane and Stine Road killed 1 person.

The incident involving two vehicles happened at about 1:20 a.m. on Panama Lane and Stine Road.

Officers found two heavily damaged cars west of an intersection and a woman in her 20s lying in the roadway with major injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name will be released by the Kern County Coroner’s Office.

Investigators said a westbound vehicle struck a southbound vehicle in the intersection. The southbound driver was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, and the woman who died was a passenger ejected from that car. The westbound driver suffered minor injuries and was also hospitalized. Speed and alcohol appear to be factors.

During the investigation, two drivers went through a police barricade into the crash scene. Both were detained, found to be under the influence, and booked into Kern County Jail.
