Police Investigate Truck-Pedestrian Crash at John Wayne Parkway and Edison Road in Maricopa

Maricopa, AZ (February 13, 2026) – An 11-year-old was hospitalized after a crash at John Wayne Parkway and Edison Road on Thursday night.

The collision happened in front of the restaurant at John Wayne Parkway and Edison Road.

Maricopa Police Department officers remained on scene as they wrapped up the response, and they cleared the area by about 8:15 p.m., according to InMaricopa.

Police spokesperson Monica Williams said the roadway has since reopened.

Williams said officers transported the 11-year-old to the hospital as a precaution after the child was struck at low speeds.

She added that responders did not report any “specific injuries” at the scene.

Police said the truck was making a turn at the intersection when the driver failed to see the child, who Williams noted was wearing darker clothing.

Officers cited the driver, and authorities said they do not believe impairment contributed to the collision.

Police had not released details about the citation as of the initial report.

If your child was hit while walking in Maricopa, Sweet Lawyers can help you understand your options—contact us for a free, confidential consultation.

When a child is struck by a vehicle—even at “low speeds”—it can be terrifying for families.

Beyond the initial shock, parents often face a flood of concerns: Will symptoms show up later? What follow-up care is needed? How do we handle medical bills, missed work, and insurance calls while focusing on our child’s recovery?

If your family is dealing with the aftermath of this pedestrian crash near John Wayne Parkway and Edison Road, Sweet Lawyers is here with empathy and support.

Children can experience injuries that aren’t always obvious at the scene. Head and neck trauma, internal injuries, and soft-tissue damage may develop or worsen over time.

That’s why prompt evaluation and careful documentation often matter, especially when you’re later asked questions by insurance representatives or presented with paperwork that feels rushed or confusing.

You deserve the space to focus on your child—not pressure from insurers.

At Sweet Lawyers, we handle injury cases with a people-first approach. Pedestrian collisions frequently involve detailed questions about driver visibility, turning movements, right-of-way, lighting, signage, speed, and whether the intersection design created additional risk.

In a busy area near restaurants and shopping, evidence can disappear quickly—witnesses leave, surveillance video may be overwritten, and vehicle damage gets repaired.

Our team can help families understand what information is typically important, communicate with insurance companies, and organize medical records so the claim process doesn’t become another burden.

Depending on the circumstances, a personal injury claim may seek compensation for medical treatment, follow-up care, therapy, and the real-life impact the injuries have on a child and family.

Every situation is different, and we won’t promise a specific outcome—but we will treat your family with respect, keep you informed, and work to protect your interests.

Sweet Lawyers offers a free, confidential consultation, and we typically work on a contingency-fee basis (meaning no upfront legal fees in many cases).
