Police Investigate Shocking Crash on Highway 136 in Wayland
WAYLAND, MO (November 18, 2025) — A terrifying crash on Highway 136 left a young girl with serious injuries Monday afternoon when an out-of-control vehicle collided with a parked pickup truck on Highway 136.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m.
A 49-year-old Wayland man was driving along Highway 136 when, for reasons still under investigation, his vehicle veered off the left side of the roadway.
The car continued off the road and collided with a stationary pickup truck parked in a nearby lot.
Inside the parked vehicle was an 11-year-old girl, who suffered serious injuries as a result of the impact.
Emergency responders rushed her to Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois, by ambulance.
The driver of the car was reportedly uninjured in the collision. Authorities noted that both individuals involved in the crash were wearing seat belts at the time.
Investigators with the Missouri State Highway Patrol continue to examine the factors that may have led to this unsettling crash, which left a young child seriously hurt in what should have been a safe location.
