17-Year-Old Male Injured in E-Bike Accident on Fairfield Street [San Diego, CA]

San Diego, CA (December 3, 2024) – A 17-year-old male riding an e-bike was injured following an accident on Fairfield Street Saturday afternoon.

The traffic accident happened around 5:10 p.m. at the intersection with Huxley Street in Bay Park.

The San Diego Police Department said an off-road Surron driven by the teen was northbound on 2600 Fairfield Street.

At the same time, a southbound 2001 Mercedes E320 on 2700 Fairfield Street turned left onto eastbound 4900 Huxley Street.

The Mercedes and the e-bike approached the intersection from opposite directions and collided.

As a result, the teen was ejected from the e-bike and sustained serious injuries, including a cerebral air embolism and multiple facial fractures. 

Immediately, the patient was taken to an area hospital to undergo treatment. 

Meanwhile, the authorities said alcohol was not a factor in the collision.
