MIDLAND, TX (September 24, 2026)— A 17-year-old driver died, and several other people were hospitalized following a wrong-way, multi-vehicle crash on Loop 250 in Midland over the weekend.

According to the Midland Police Department, officers responded Sunday to reports of a wrong-way driver near the intersection of West Loop 250 North and North Midkiff Road.

Police said the 17-year-old was driving a Chevrolet Camaro eastbound in the westbound lanes.

Officers attempted to intercept the Camaro, but authorities reported that the driver avoided the attempted interception and continued traveling before colliding with another vehicle near North Big Spring Street.

Midland police said the Camaro then struck a second vehicle. A third vehicle subsequently encountered debris in the roadway and also became involved in the crash scene.

Emergency personnel responded to the multi-vehicle collision.

Authorities pronounced the 17-year-old Camaro driver dead at the scene.

Occupants of the other vehicles involved in the crash were transported to Midland Memorial Hospital. Officials described their injuries as non-life-threatening.
