19-Year-Old Fatina Chaney Dies in Accident on Interstate 80 [Sacramento, CA]

Sacramento, CA (September 17, 2023) – On Saturday, 19-year-old Fatina Chaney was killed in a traffic accident on Interstate 80.

It was around 3:05 a.m. when Sacramento Police officers stopped a car on Evergreen Street at Del Paso Boulevard for vehicle code violations. Unfortunately, the car allegedly did not pull over, leading police on a pursuit.

The authorities lost sight of the vehicle upon reaching Interstate 80 and Marysville Boulevard at about 3:51 a.m. 

Afterward, the vehicle being chased crashed on the eastbound I-80 onramp.  

Officers said that an unknown number of people ran away from the car after it crashed.

Chaney was one of those who ran from the car. She walked into the freeway’s eastbound lanes where she was struck by an unknown number of cars.

At least two of the cars that struck her stopped at the accident scene. 

CHP‘s North Sacramento office is investigating this fatal crash.
