Police Investigate Fatal Crash on Auto Mall Parkway in Fremont

Fremont, CA (February 5, 2026) – A 19-year-old man from San Jose has died after suffering critical injuries in a crash on Auto Mall Parkway involving a BMW and a tractor-trailer, police said.

The collision occurred around 1:50 a.m. on January 27 at the intersection of Auto Mall Parkway and Cushing Parkway, according to the Fremont Police Department.

Authorities said a BMW M4 coupe and a tractor-trailer entered the intersection and collided.

Investigators reported that the BMW was traveling northbound on Cushing Parkway while the tractor-trailer was heading westbound on Auto Mall Parkway. The front of the BMW struck the middle of the tractor-trailer and became lodged underneath the larger vehicle.

Both occupants of the BMW were transported to a local hospital. The driver was treated and later released, while the passenger succumbed to his injuries on January 31.

Police said the hospital notified the department of the death on Thursday. This incident marks Fremont’s third traffic-related fatality of the year.

The tractor-trailer driver was not injured and remained at the scene, cooperating fully with investigators. Police stated that alcohol or drugs did not appear to have contributed to the crash, and traffic signals at the intersection were functioning properly at the time.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
