Two Drivers Seriously Hurt in Monroe County Crash on MO-154

Monroe County, MO (March 3, 2026) — A 53-year-old woman from Moberly and a 44-year-old man from Stoutsville suffered serious injuries after a 2-vehicle collision on Highway 154 Saturday evening in Monroe County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 5:45 p.m. on MO-154, about two miles south of Paris.

Reports say that the woman was driving a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee when she entered the path of an oncoming 2008 Nissan Titan driven by the Stoutsville man. The vehicles struck each other head-on while traveling in opposite directions.

Emergency responders transported both drivers to University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Authorities reported that the man was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Both vehicles sustained extensive damage and were towed from the scene. Troopers continue to review the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Let’s Avoid Traffic Accidents

Avoiding auto accidents involves paying attention and practicing safe driving methods. And as always, you should follow the speed and traffic laws, and don’t text (or use your phone in any way) behind the wheel.

Keep a safe trailing distance to be able to stop, if necessary.

Do not drink and drive, and never get behind the wheel if you are under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or if you are tired.

Watch your mirrors and use your turn signals, and check your blind spots, before changing lanes or making a turn. Drive calmly and patiently, especially in heavy traffic or bad weather.

When you drive responsibly and remain alert, you help prevent accidents and keep everyone on the road safe.

Serious crashes often happen in a matter of seconds. Always wear your seatbelt and use extra caution when entering roadways or crossing traffic. Simple safety steps can significantly reduce the risk of life-threatening injuries.

File a Personal Injury Claim in Case of Vehicle Crash

A personal injury claim following a traffic collision is a legal process that allows an injured party to seek compensation for physical, emotional, and financial harm caused by the accident. These claims arise when a driver’s negligence, recklessness, or intentional actions lead to an accident resulting in injuries.

The first step in pursuing a personal injury claim is to establish fault. This normally involved gathering evidence such as police reports, witness statements, traffic camera footage, and photographs of the accident scene. A skilled attorney from Sweet Lawyers can help establish who was responsible for the accident, which is indeed, necessary for determining liability.

Once fault is established, the injured party can then pursue compensation for damages which may include but are not limited to medical expenses, lost wages, property damage, and pain and suffering. Consequently, medical documentation and expert testimony are essential for proving the extent of the injuries and their impact on the victim’s life.

Meanwhile, it’s important to note that the statute of limitations, or the time frame within which a personal injury claim must be filed, varies by state. Meaning if a claim is not filed within this window, the victim and the family of the victim may lose the right to seek compensation.

A personal injury claim in case of a traffic collision can be complex, but it offers an essential avenue that helps the victims to recover damages and hold negligent drivers accountable.
