DUI Suspect Charged After Serious Two-Car Crash Near I-5 and SR-16

Tacoma, WA (June 11, 2025) — Two people suffered serious injuries in a two-vehicle collision on Interstate 5 near State Route 16 on Tuesday evening.

According to the Washington State Patrol, a 23-year-old man from New Iberia, Louisiana, struck a vehicle driven by a 33-year-old woman from Lakewood. The impact sent both vehicles across multiple lanes before they crashed into the left-side barrier and came to rest on the shoulder.

Emergency crews transported both drivers to a local hospital for treatment.

Investigators later arrested the 23-year-old driver and charged him with driving under the influence and vehicular assault. Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
