80-Year-Old Woman Seriously Hurt in Two-Vehicle Crash at San Carlos Intersection

San Diego, CA (July 12, 2026) — On Thursday morning, an 80-year-old woman sustained serious injuries after a two-vehicle collision on Jackson Drive in San Diego’s San Carlos neighborhood.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the crash happened around 7:48 a.m. at the intersection of Jackson Drive and Navajo Road. Investigators said the woman was driving a white 2015 Honda Civic northbound on Jackson Drive when she entered the intersection against a steady red light. At the same time, a 36-year-old man traveling eastbound in a gray Kia Sorento on Navajo Road struck the Honda on the driver’s side.

Emergency responders transported the woman to a local hospital with a fractured tibia, a fractured fibula, and a displaced hip. The other driver was not injured.

Authorities said alcohol did not appear to play a role in the collision. The San Diego Police Department’s Traffic Division continues to investigate the crash.
