2-Car Crash on Avenue 18½ Under Investigation [Madera County, CA]

Madera County, CA (June 27, 2025) — On Wednesday evening, a 25-year-old Madera man lost his life, and a 40-year-old Chowchilla man suffered moderate injuries in a two-vehicle crash on Avenue 18½.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at the intersection with Road 19 at around 6:30 p.m.

Investigators said the driver of a Toyota Tacoma was traveling north on Road 19 and failed to stop at a stop sign before entering the intersection. A Hyundai Tucson traveling west on Avenue 18½, which had the right of way, struck the passenger side of the pickup.

The impact sent both vehicles into a nearby orchard, where they overturned. Authorities said the Toyota driver was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. Despite lifesaving efforts, he died at the scene.

The Hyundai driver, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to a local hospital with moderate injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
