One Killed in Highway 24 Crash Near Colorado Springs Airport
Colorado Springs, CO (September 16, 2026) — On Thursday night, a 23-year-old Colorado Springs man died after a two-vehicle crash on Highway 24 near Newt Drive, just west of Marsheffel Road.
Colorado State Patrol troopers responded shortly after 7:15 p.m. and found that an eastbound Acura RDX had attempted to turn left onto Newt Drive when it collided with the front left side of a westbound Nissan Rogue.
The Nissan left the roadway, while the Acura stopped in the merge lane. The Nissan driver died at the scene. His 23-year-old female passenger, also from Colorado Springs, went to a hospital but reported no injuries. The 38-year-old Peyton woman driving the Acura was hospitalized with injuries that were not immediately known.
Highway 24 remained closed until about 10:30 p.m. as authorities investigated the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
