Semi-Truck Driver Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 5 in Federal Way

Federal Way, WA (July 30, 2026) — A two-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 NB in Federal Way claimed the life of a semi-truck driver Tuesday morning.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened shortly before 10 a.m. near the Federal Way Rest Area, just south of State Route 18. The crash involved a passenger vehicle and a semi-truck, forcing authorities to close the two right lanes of northbound I-5 for several hours.

Emergency crews responded to the scene while traffic backed up for more than three miles into Pierce County. Officials reopened all lanes at approximately 1:30 p.m.
