16-Year-Old Girl Dies After High-Speed Accident on North Union Avenue in Roswell

Roswell, NM (March 12, 2026) — A 16-year-old girl lost her life Tuesday evening following a serious crash on North Union Avenue involving two vehicles.

According to the Roswell Police Department, a Honda Accord was traveling southbound on North Union Avenue at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control. The vehicle then collided nearly head-on with a GMC Yukon.

The teenage girl was inside the Accord with three other teens. Emergency crews transported her to a nearby hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

Two teenage boys who were also in the Accord suffered severe injuries and were airlifted to another hospital for treatment. A 15-year-old girl in the vehicle sustained injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

The occupants of the Yukon, a 56-year-old woman and her 11-year-old daughter, were also treated for minor injuries.

Investigators believe one of the teenage boys was driving the Accord at the time of the crash. Authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the deadly collision.
