2-Car Traffic Crash on Panama Road Claims a Life [Bakersfield, CA]

Bakersfield, CA (September 6, 2026) — On Thursday morning, a 68-year-old man died after a two-vehicle crash on Panama Road west of Tejon Highway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officers responded to the collision around 4:48 a.m. Investigators said the 68-year-old was driving a 2001 Honda eastbound on Panama Road when he entered the intersection and collided with a 2007 Toyota traveling southbound on Tejon Highway.

The Honda driver died at the scene. Emergency crews transported the 64-year-old Toyota driver to Kern Medical with minor injuries.

Authorities have not determined whether alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
