Police Investigate Pedestrian Crash on Catala Avenue in Saugus

SAUGUS, CA (May 27, 2026)— Two children were airlifted to a specialty hospital on Wednesday morning after a vehicle struck them in a crash on Catala Avenue near Highland Elementary School in Saugus.

According to Shirley Miller, a spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, first responders received reports of the crash around 7:55 a.m. in the 27000 block of Catala Avenue.

Miller said a boy and a girl were crossing the road when a vehicle struck them.

Emergency responders brought the children to Central Park, where medical helicopters transported them to a specialty hospital.

Officials said the children’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. However, due to their young age, authorities arranged air transport to a specialized medical facility.

Authorities have not released additional details about the driver, the children’s ages, or what led to the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.

Compassionate Legal Support After a Child Pedestrian Accident

A pedestrian crash involving children is every parent’s nightmare. When young students are struck by a vehicle near a school, families may feel fear, confusion, and uncertainty about their children’s injuries and recovery.

Even when officials report that injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, children may still need specialized medical care, follow-up treatment, emotional support, and careful monitoring after a traumatic collision.

At Sweet Lawyers, we understand how deeply upsetting these incidents can be for families and communities.

Children are especially vulnerable pedestrians, and crashes near schools require careful attention.

Questions may arise about driver awareness, speed, crosswalk use, school-zone safety, visibility, traffic controls, roadway design, and whether additional precautions could have prevented the collision.

Our team helps injured children and their families understand their rights after serious pedestrian accidents. We assist with reviewing police reports, gathering available evidence, communicating with insurance companies, and helping families pursue compensation for accident-related losses.

Important evidence may include witness statements, crash-scene photos, roadway markings, school-area traffic patterns, driver statements, surveillance footage, dash-camera video, and medical records.

When a child is injured, families should not feel pressured by insurance companies before the full impact of the crash is known.

A personal injury claim may help recover compensation for medical expenses, future care needs, pain and suffering, emotional distress, rehabilitation, and other damages related to the accident.

Sweet Lawyers approaches child injury cases with compassion, professionalism, and care.

We know families need clear communication, steady guidance, and advocates who treat their child’s recovery with urgency and respect.
