Two People Hospitalized After Crash on US Highway 71 in Kansas City

Kansas City, MO (September 26, 2025) – Two people suffered critical injuries after a crash on US Highway 71 on Thursday afternoon.

The Kansas City Police Department reported that a burgundy Honda Civic was traveling northbound at more than 100 mph around 3:45 p.m. 

As the Civic crossed the Red Bridge Road overpass, it weaved dangerously between vehicles, passing too closely before overcorrecting to avoid a collision.

According to crash investigators, the vehicle skidded sideways between the first lane and the emergency lane, rolled at least three times, and ejected the driver.

Emergency crews transported both the driver and passenger to a local hospital with critical injuries. KCPD confirmed that its DUI unit responded to process the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
