2 Drivers Dead in Vehicle Crash on Missouri Route V [Jefferson County, MO]

Jefferson County, MO (August 22, 2025) – Two drivers, a 26-year-old De Soto man, and  a 30-year-old Hillsboro woman, were killed in a vehicle crash on Missouri Route V Tuesday night.

The fatal collision between a Dodge Dakota and a Hyundai Elantra happened shortly before 9 p.m. north of Weathered Stone Drive.

Troopers said the Dodge, driven by the De Soto man, was southbound and as the Hyundai was traveling north on the same road..

MSHP officers said the Dodge was traveling too fast for the roadway conditions. It failed to navigate a curve to the left, and it partially travelled off the right side of the roadway. It then overcorrected to the left and crossed the double yellow centerline.

The Dodge then struck the front left side of the Hyundai driven by the Hillsboro woman.

Due to the impact, the Dodge skidded and slid before it overturned and threw the driver. 

Moreover, the Hyundai travelled off the right side of the road and caught fire.

Sadly, both drivers were killed at the crash scene.

 A 3-year-old passenger in the Hyundai sustained minor injuries and was taken to a hospital.

MSHP officers said neither of the drivers was wearing a seatbelt, but the child was.
