Injuries Reported in San Leandro Auto Accident on San Leandro Street and 73rd Street

SAN LEANDRO, CA (October 16, 2025) – Tuesday night, an alarming car crash on San Leandro Street and 73rd Street injured 2.

The incident happened at about 6:45 p.m. on San Leandro Street and 73rd Street.

Police said they tried to pull over a driver for not having a license plate near westbound San Leandro and 73rd streets, but the driver refused to stop and sped away.

The pursuit continued onto northbound Interstate 880, then Interstate 980, before the driver exited onto 11th Street. According to the California Highway Patrol, the chase ended when the driver crashed at 17th and Castro streets.

Both the driver and a passenger suffered minor injuries and were taken to the hospital, the CHP said.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
