Injuries Reported in Hoopa Auto Accident on State Route 96

HOOPA, CA (February 16, 2025) – Saturday morning, a crippling vehicle crash on State Route 96 injured two people.

The incident happened at about 6:18 a.m. on State Route 96.

Reports said that the serious crash took place when a Toyota Tacoma veered off the road, possibly hitting an embankment. By 6:43 a.m., emergency responders from Hoopa arrived and confirmed that the vehicle had gone over the embankment. Two people were taken by ambulance to St. Joseph Hospital.

The crash also brought down a telephone pole, prompting Frontier Communications to be notified. Buddy’s Tow was dispatched to recover the vehicle, but initial reports suggested that the fallen lines complicated the process.

At noon, Frontier Communications crews had yet to arrive at the scene.
