Authorities responded to a head-on collision involving a Toyota Tacoma and a Dodge Dart.

The impact left both vehicles heavily damaged, and North Central Fire crews used the Jaws of Life to free the drivers. Both were reported to have major injuries but survived.

Investigators said drugs and alcohol were not factors, though distracted driving may have played a role. They added that both drivers were wearing seatbelts, a decision that likely saved their lives.
