Police Investigate Rear-End Crash on Highway 63 in Boone County

BOONE COUNTY, MO (August 30, 2026)– Two people sustained injuries in a rear-end crash on Highway 63 late Saturday night after one driver reportedly lost consciousness or fell asleep behind the wheel.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened at approximately 11 p.m. Saturday, August 29, on southbound Highway 63 near Peabody Road.

Troopers said a 17-year-old girl from Osceola was driving a 2021 Ford Bronco southbound when she reportedly lost consciousness or fell asleep while driving.

The Bronco then struck the rear of a 2022 Toyota Camry traveling in the same direction.

The teen driver suffered minor injuries. Boone County Ambulance personnel transported her to University Hospital for treatment.

The Camry driver, identified only as a 58-year-old St. Louis man, sustained moderate injuries in the collision. Emergency responders also transported him to University Hospital.

According to the MSHP crash report, both drivers were wearing seat belts when the collision occurred.

The crash caused extensive damage to the Ford Bronco, while authorities listed the Toyota Camry as totaled. Tow crews removed both vehicles from the scene.

Authorities have not released additional information regarding the conditions of the two injured drivers.
