2 People Hospitalized After Crash on County Road 581 in Monroe County
MONROE COUNTY, MO (May 8, 2026) — Two people suffered serious injuries Thursday evening after a motorcycle crash on County Road 581 in Monroe County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened shortly after 5:15 p.m. on County Road 581, about five miles east of Stoutsville.
Investigators said a 71-year-old man from Spearfish, South Dakota, was driving a 2008 Honda Goldwing with a 71-year-old woman, also from Spearfish, riding as a passenger.
The motorcycle traveled off the right side of the roadway and overturned.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and arranged air transport for both the driver and passenger. Authorities said both were flown to University Hospital with serious injuries.
The crash report noted that both riders were wearing helmets at the time of the collision.
Officials have not released additional details about what caused the motorcycle to leave the roadway.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
