1 Injured, 3 Dead in 2-Vehicle Crash near Burlington Junction
Nodaway County, MO (May 12, 2026) – A 76-year-old woman from Rockwell City, Iowa, and a 67-year-old woman from Harlan, Iowa, lost their lives following a US 71 head-on crash Saturday afternoon.
The deadly vehicle crash happened around 1:25 p.m. north of Burlington Junction.
According to the investigators, a 2026 Chevrolet Equinox was northbound when it crossed the center line and crashed head-on into a southbound 2026 Ford Explorer.
Both the Equinox and the Explorer caught fire.
Immediately, rescuers rushed to the scene and transported the driver of the Explorer to a hospital with serious injuries, while her passengers, the two women from Iowa, died in the collision.
Similarly, the Equinox driver, a 59-year-old woman from Carthage, Texas, was declared dead at the scene.
Officers are investigating.
